PUBG is finally drawing the curtain on its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One era, with official support ending November 13, 2025. After eight years of keeping last-gen players in the fight, Krafton says it’s time to focus fully on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The developers admit the decision “weighs heavily,” but insist it’s necessary to unlock the game’s full potential on modern hardware.
By stepping away from the limitations of older consoles, PUBG aims to deliver sharper visuals, more stable frame rates, and fewer crashes thanks to better memory optimization. The studio says this shift will make future updates smoother and allow the game to evolve without being held back by outdated tech. Players’ accounts and purchased items will remain intact when moving to newer consoles.
Once the cutoff hits, Xbox Series S will offer 1080p or 1440p at 60fps or 30fps, PS5 will run at 1440p and 60fps, while Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro will push 2160p at 60fps. For many, it’s a bittersweet farewell-nostalgia for epic battles on last-gen hardware mixes with excitement for what’s next.
The dev team thanked players for eight years of memories: tense firefights, last-second chicken dinners, and the friendships forged along the way. They describe the change as the end of an era, but also a leap forward for the game’s long-term future.
