In a spectacular celebration at Germany’s Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, the Disney Destiny officially touched water for the first time during its much-anticipated Float Out ceremony. This milestone marks the ship’s departure from dry dock as it prepares for its journey to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale ahead of its Maiden Voyage on November 20, 2025.
Construction on the Disney Destiny began in 2023, and yesterday’s event drew crowds from Papenburg and beyond. 
The atmosphere was pure Disney magic, with fireworks, pyrotechnics, and a special appearance by Hero Minnie in her brand-new outfit. The celebration honored not just the guests but also the thousands of skilled workers who have poured their talent and dedication into bringing the vessel to life.
The Disney Destiny is the third member of Disney Cruise Line’s Wish-class fleet, following the Disney Wish (2022) and Disney Treasure (2024). Another sister ship is already planned for 2027, and during the Float Out event, visitors also witnessed the Steel Cutting ceremony that officially began construction on that future vessel.
Guests boarding the Disney Destiny will be treated to an array of immersive experiences, including Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, Worlds of Marvel, Edna A La Mode Sweets inspired by The Incredibles, a Broadway-style Hercules musical, De Vil’s Piano Bar, The Haunted Mansion Parlor, the Cask & Cannon lounge themed after Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Doctor Strange-inspired Sanctum. With so many themed venues and shows, the Disney Destiny promises to deliver an unforgettable voyage for fans of all ages.
